This is my first experience with the new Blogger interface. Very nice. Keith told me that they had updated it but I hadn't been until now. I'm embarassed to say that I don't have anything interesting to report. I've been burried with school work. I've been tutoring a lot and my classes are keeping me really busy. All of the athletes that I am working with are taking short session summer classes so it's a ton of work all at once. It seems like every time I walk into the academic support building there is some new fire to put out. Today I had to help a basketball player write a 10 page paper on how the black athlete has changed from 1920 to today. Not that big of a deal but I haven't taken the class and I haven't read most of the articles and stuff that he was supposed to use to write it. The material was really kind of interesting and I LOVE the kid I was working with so it was okay. I have to go back tomorrow and help him finish it up. I told his counselor that I wouldn't be able to come in tomorrow and I thought he was going to have a stroke. I really do need to study for a test that I have on Thursday, so I made him beg. He's paying me double time from the time I leave my house until I get home. That will make for a nice pay check.
I have to go to bed now. I'm reading Catcher in the Rye and I want to read for a while before I go to sleep. I have to get up early and get some studying done in the morning before I go to work, so Nite All!!

Just a quick note -- I'm waiting for the water to boil so I can make my coffee and oatmeal for breakfast. Mark was home for the weekend. We had a good time. We went to Barnacles last night for team trivia. We did well -- we were leading going into the last question but we bet a bunch of points on a random quesiton and we got it wrong. Angel said no guts no glory so we be all that we could. It was fun -- and it was a bar trivia game, so who really cares? We watched the Lewis - Klitschko fight, too. Poor Klitschko. They were beating the snot out of each other when Lewis opened a river of blood over Klitschko's eye and the ring doctor stopped the fight. Alex was hysterical -- at the beginning of the fight he wanted Klitschko to win because he wants to see a title fight between the Klitschko brothers, which means Vitali would have had to beat Lewis last night. So he was rooting for Klitschko until the fight really got going and then he couldn't help rooting for Lewis. In the end he was all psyched that Lewis had won, I guess completely forgetting about his Vladimir vs Vitali bout. Oh well, boys will be boys.
I'm going to go drink some coffee now and do some reading for school. I'll catch up on everyone later. My classes are actually REALLY interesting. My major professor is teaching the methods class that I'm taking on campus. She's really cool and smart as hell, but not that "I know more than you do so sit there and listen and I'll tell you what you need to know" kind of smart. I think people that act like that aren't really that smart so they have to act like they are so no one will challenge them. She's just plain smart. She taught kids with severe emotional/behavioral disorders (E/BD) for years so she has some GREAT stories to tell. My online class (Characteristics of Mental Retardation) is really interesting too, so far. I didn't think it would be, because I'm REALLY not interested in teaching in an MR setting, but there's a lot of stuff about Special Ed law and the theory behind a lot of the things that we do. It's really interesting so far. As a matter of fact, I better go soon and read for that class. We have to post 1 page responses to our weekly readings.
I just wanted to assure everyone that no one has run me off from my blog. It's just that sometimes you have to do things in the 3-D world. I've been busy with school and getting my athletes on track with their classes. Most of them are back in Athens for the summer -- yeay!! I was used to seeing all of them almost every day and with teaching high school I wasn't on campus much. So I had lunch with one of my gymnasts, had a study session with a football player and another gymnast, then went and visited a bunch of the other guys. It was fun.
Well, I better sign off now. I gotta read for school. I hope all is well with everyone. Oh, and Sandee is back among the blogging!! YEAY!! Night all . . .

Okay, so the new leaf didn't last long, but I'm back. I started my summer school classes at the University yesterday (taking, not teaching). I'm taking one class on line and there is a phenomenal amount of work to do for it!! I'd almost rather have to drive to campus than do all of the crap we have to do! I guess the professor feels the need to make it extra challenging because people think that online classes are easy and they're not real classes. I must admit that I, myself, was under that misimpression. It's kind of frustrating, it's a class on the characteristics of mental retardation. I already know the characteristics of MR -- and I don't want to teach children with MR. But it's part of the graduate program, so I have to have it.
Other than that I haven't done a whole lot. My friend Sandie's bar is starting to do bikini contests so she's been going around to other bars and see how they run their contests. A bar right near my house was having a contest last night so I met them there. It was horrible!! The place was packed with old men and cheesy young guys. Every time I thought it couldn't be any worse . . . it got worse. Fortunatley, Shannen (who was the one who actually called me to meet them up there) had to leave at 10:30 so I was spared part of the festivities. When we left, they had just auctioned tee shirts off of each of the contestants, so they were all hanging out in their bikinis, but we missed the actual parading around in said bikinis. I don't know (or actually care) who won, but I know that that was likely to be my last bikini contest! OH -- and to top it ALL off, I missed Friends AND WIll and Grace! Whose bright idea was it to have a bikini contest on Muse See TV night/. Morons!
Well, I better go do some reading for school. The characteristics of MR are calling me . . . I didn't do any work, didn't study anything, didn't go to school and buy books for next semester, didn't go to the high school and work on files -- nothin'!! I went and saw my friend Shannen at work at Barnacles. Now, lemme tell ya that's a time sucker!! I got there at 11 and we left at 3, ran some errands, went and saw our friend Richie at Taylors. We played a bartop trivia game for a couple of hours (I KNOW!!) and then Shannen met-up with some friends to go to the country night club called Wild Bill's. It's ladies' night there -- the first 2,500 women get in for free and there's an $18 cover charge for men. They're having some famous country singer there tonight. Anyway, Shannen wanted to go. I informed her in no uncertain terms that I didn't want no part of none of that. I told her to call me if she and her drunk friends need a ride home and otherwise I'd talk to her tomorrow. I ate dinner and came home. And now I'm sitting on my couch watching a rerun ot Law and Order and playing on my computer. Fun times, huh? I guess tomorrow I really have to go to the high school and work on my files. My sister and her hubby and baby are coming up tomorrow and we're going to go ahead and give daddy his father's day present before I die of anticipation!! It's fabulous and he's going to love it and I, the worst secret keeper of all time, ordered it and have had possession of it for a month. So I think I'll go work some in the morning and then head out to mamma and daddy's house in the afternoon when my sister and them get there, do the gift thing, score a free dinner and be home in time for Will and Grace at 9. It's the plan, anyway. We'll see how it works out. But for now, I must scoot. See ya later . . .

Yet another busy day in the neighborhood. I actually slept until 9:30 this morning! It's pouring down rain here, so that helped. I woke up a few times and went right back to sleep. So now I'm sitting on my couch watching a rerun of ER and trying to motivate myself into the shower. I'm having lunch with a friend from UGA and then I have my tutoring session at 1:30. One of my kids from the high school called me last night and he's in Athens (where the University is) -- inspite of being on probation and having an 8:00 curfue -- so I think I might try to go by and see him today too. Dunno -- that remains to be seen. But for now, I must shower. I got up around 9, chatted on IM with a couple of friends, had a liesurely lunch with Keith at Barnacles, then I laid out in the sun on my deck and read a book. Then around 3:30 i wandered inside, showered again and went to meet my friend Shannen for some mischief. I could get used to this. Until tomorrow, at least, when I have to go to Athens to do some tutoring at the University. And then Wednesday when I have to go back to the high school and finish-up some student files and actually get my desk and shelves in order for next year. But other than that . . .
Sooo, there's really nothing exciting to report. I'm reading the book The Summons right now. As a matter of fact, I'm going to go to bed in a few minutes are read for a while. It's really good -- a great summer read. So I'm off to bed. Nite all -- will write more tomorrow. I'm turning over a new leaf . . . I'm blogging again. I've been inspired. Our last actual day was yesterday. I have to go back next week and finish up some paperwork, but my grades are in, my books are turned in, and I'm outta there until the end of July. I start my college classes in a week and a half, so I actually have a bit of a break. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do -- beyond the usual house cleaning and stuff. I think I'll lay out at my friend Keith's pool for a day or so. Keith will be at work, but I know where he keeps his pool key.
Anyway, the mother of one of my students brought me some plants as a thank-you gift for helping her kid so I guess I'll have to plant them in the yard somewhere. I wanted to plant some flowers around my mailbox -- maybe I'll put them there. I'll have to see if they can take the direct sun. I hope she left the tags in them so I'll know how to care for them.
So, anyway, I woke-up to a dead mouse in my bed this morning. I slept in a bit (onaccounta some last-day-of-school celebrating all afternoon yesterday and well into last night) and woke up when my Whippet jumped into the bed. She dropped something on the pillow that I wasn't sleeping on and turned to kiss me in the face. I didn't let her (because I wasn't feeling so great on accounta the afore mentioned celebration) and when I turned my head to avoid her tongue, I was a tail sticking off the end of the pillow. It was a distinctively rodentine tail, too. Needless to say, I was up out of the bed with something of a quickness. I went to start my coffee before dealing with the dead mouse and I passed another one on my livingroom floor! That one had no tail and I didn't notice a head, either. I didn't inspect it or anything, but I don't think it was in as good condition as teh one in the bed. So I made my coffee and did some carcus recon. Nasty.
So now I'm sitting on my couch drinking coffee and recovering. Will read and blog more later. Now, I know that a lot of people don't like her because she acts like we should all have perfect houses with perfect gardens and lawns and cook 7 course meals . . . blah blah blah. Well, I like a lot of the ideas they have in the magazine and I just ignore the suggestion that we should all be able to do for ourselves what her staff of dozens does for her. But I was reading something about gardening and ol Martha was suggesting that for easy clean-up after you spend all day working in your garden (because who DOESN'T have that kind of time) you should sort your refuse. Put organic stuff in a wheel barrow so that you can easily roll it over to your compost heap . . . and that's where I stopped reading. Like everyone and their brother has a compost heap in their back yard. Now, my home owners' association won't let us keep cars in our driveway bit they're gonna just look the other way about a pile of rotting crap in my back yard?! I don't think so.

Okay, enough of the rant. I was just scolded by one of my online friends for not blogging, so I guess I better finish this up and post it. School is almost over. We have 3 more "teaching" days and then finals. Teachers have 2 additional days for grading and stuff, so next Friday is our last day. Come on, Friday!!
My cat was kind enough to bring me a new friend this evening. She came in through the dog door -- which she does about 20 times an evening -- and stood behind the couch meowing loudly. I figured she was just bitching about what ever cats have to bitch about until I heard a squeek and I realized that she had brought in one of her friends from outside. Not nice. It was a baby bird -- I thought it was dead at first and then it twitched. I held it in my hand for a while and let it warm up and calm down and then I put it outside under a bush. I hope it makes it -- or that the cat finds it again if it doesn't make it and I don't find its poor dead body in the morning. I was all sad that if it dies its last moments will have been spent scared and alone -- then i came to my senses and realized that it's a bird. Poor little thing.
So, I think that's all I have for now. I'll try not to be such a sucky blogger in the future . . . really . . . I said I'll try!!

Just a quick note -- I hear a bubble bath calling me but I wanted to say "HI". It seems that I've actually outdone myself in the field of sucky blogging. It's been over a week. I really have been busy, though. Nothing exciting, just busy. I finished my classes at UGA this past week, which meant a HUGE project due on Wednesday (after I'd spent Monday and Tuesday at a disciplinary panel and then in court with one of my little lovelies from the high school). Then Thursday and Friday I spent catching up on my high school stuff after being so busy earlier in the week. Now we're getting the kids ready for their finals -- we have 9 actual teaching days left for the year, then finals and graduation. And then I have a whole week off before summer school at UGA starts. YEAY weekoff!!
Okay, so I'm off to my bubble bath and I'm going to bed early to read. Night all . . . hope you've all had a splendid Mother's Day and that you all rememnered to call your moms. I haven't blogged in a whole week. But in my defense, I've been really busy with college and high school. This week I have my final project due for the class that I have at UGA, so I had to do all of the work that I've been putting off all semester. And at high school, we only have about 15 days left before finals. Oh, and my athletes at UGA are all having papers and projects due (because finals are coming up there, too), so it's been a bit hectic. Anyway . . . I'M BBBAAACCCKKK!!
So, have y'all read Zander's fabulous news? He had a spinal tap last Monday and there are no liviing cancer cells in his spinal fluid. That's HUGE!! Now he's almost done with his last round of Chemo (for now) and he gets to go on vacation with his family. YEAY ZANDER!!
Speaking of Zander, because he makes it look like such fun, I'm gonna do my first Friday Five. So, here goes . . .

1. Name one song you hate to admit you like.
Sweet Home Alabama. I like it to the point that, in the beginning when they say "turn it up", I do. But I have a funny story . . . the University of Alabama is UGA's arch rival in gymnastics, and every year we compete against them twice during the regular season. One meet is at our school and the other is at theirs. They are the only team that we do that with, but it's just such a HUGE rivalry that both teams want to host. So anyway, Cory's freshman year we competed against them at home first and then in Alabama for the second meet. So the girls were in very hostile enemy teritiory for the meet and
Cory thought it would be funny to fucl with the rednecks, so in the middle of her floor routine she put a few bars of Sweet Home Alabama into her music. She altered her choreography so that when it came on she was in the middle of the floor on all 4 and she looked up when Sweet Home Alabama came on, shook her head and waved her finger "no" and you could hear the music being ripped off the turntable and it went into The Devil Went Down to Georgia. It took a couple of seconds for the crowd to realize what happened, but they were pissed!! The entire auditorium eruped in boos!! It was great. You're really not supposed to boo or heckle the competitors in gymnastics meet, but they do at Alabama anyway, so Cory gave them something to boo about. And her routine was flawless, which really pissed them off.

2.Name two songs that always make you cry . I actually have a few . . .
Fire and Rain by James Taylor
I Will Remember You (rather whiny and girly -- not really my type -- but it always gets me none the less)
I Hope You Had the Time of Your Life by Green Day
Drops of Jupiter by Train
I Just Want You to Know Who I Am

3. Name three songs that turn you on.
Closer by Nine Inch Nails
Head Like a Hole also by Nine Inch Nails
Wild is the Wind by David Bowie or Nina Simone, depending on my mood

4. Name four songs that always make you feel good.
anything off of Pearl Jam 10
The Laughing Gnome -- a VERY old David Bowie song
Pencil Thin Moustache by Jimmy Buffett
Gidget's theme song

5. Name five songs you couldn't ever do without.
I'll have to think about this one for a while . . .

Okay, I've been working on this post since yesterday morning so I'm going to post it now and if there are any changes that I need to make, I will do it later. But now I gotta go to bed cuz I have school in the morning. Nite all . . .

I just typed this post and it got sucked into the internet abyss so I'm gonna do it again. It's now 9:35 on a BEAUTIFUL springtime Saturday morning in the southland and I'm sitting in the high school where I teach doing . . . you guessed it . . . Saturday School!! It's kinda funny -- these kids are REALLY pissed about having to be here. It's like it doesn't even occur to them that they got themselves here!
Anyway, so that's what I'm doing until noon today. Then I think I might go hang out with one of the other teachers who is also here and drink for a while. I have to work on my project for grad school - it's due next Wednesday and I'm significantly behind. I have a party to go to tonight, too. One of the teachers that I team teach with, Chris, is having an appreciation party for the people who were supportive of her and her family while her husband was fighting cancer. I think he had throat cancer. I made them some spaghetti and froze it and brought it to school for her to take home and cook on a night when she didn't have time to cook. So they're having a big block party and I gotta put in an appearance. It should be fun, though.
So, UGA's gymnastics team was at Nationals last nght and took 3rd. I was worried that they were going to be really disappointed, but for the first time in a long time they actually acknowledged that they had done a great job even if they didn't take first place. Cory called me at around 1 this morning when they were on their way back to the hotel and they were all laughing and carrying-on on the bus. It was good to hear.
Well, I better go give these hoodlums some attention. TTFN

Hey all! I haven't blogged in a couple of days and yet I find myself with nothing interesting to write about. School is going well. High school is, anyway. I have a significant amount of work to do for the class that I'm taking, but I'll get it done. Next week is the last class and then all that we have left is a final case study and then we're DONE!! Then all that I have left is to get my athletes through their finals and I'm home free. I should be in study hall right now, as a matter of fact, but I was tired so I just came home. The gymnastics team is in Nebraska for Nationals right now -- one of my gymnasts called me crying while I was in class and left me a message crying. I called her back instantly and she didn't answer. I was having horrible visions of her having broken her leg or something and calling me to pick her up at the airport in Atlanta or something. She called me back about 10 minutes later with the news that Sierra, one of the other gymnasts, had torn her ACL. Very bad, very sad news but all I could think was atleast it wasn't Cory. Then I felt REALLY guilty for thinking that. But, oh well. Cory said that they are all doing great in practice, though. For what that's worth.
What else is new? My contract got renewed for next year -- which means that I still have a job. Pretty cool, huh? Yeah, I'm pretty stoked. It looks like I will be teaching 2 Junior Language Arts classes, a Freshman Language Arts Class, Physics (hopefully that will change, but what ever), and an Affective Skills class. I'm not really excited about Affective or Physics, but it'll be okay. I wasn't excited about teaching Math when I started and now it's my favorite class.
So, what else? OH YEAH!! It seems that my dear pal Zander has a boyfriend!! It's about the sweetest thing in the world, so go give him hell about it. It's his first boyfriend, and to say that he's gaa gaa is an understatement. SOOO cute!
Okay, that's about it for now. I'm going to go lay in the bed and read Weetzie Bat for a while before I go to sleep. Nite y'all!

Well, there have been some interesting changes around here the past few days. I don't think I'm ready to blog about them but that's why I haven't blogged in a couple of days. I've been trying to keep myself busy so as not to think about stuff too much.
So . . . there's a Relay For Life near my house next month and I've volunteered to walk in it. A teacher at my school is in charge of coordinating and fund raising and all. We've had an auction at school to raise money -- I got some Fiesta Ware and some shirts for Mark. I bid on a sweatshirt, too, but I didn't get down to the office in time to close the deal on that one and someone swooped in and out bid me. So if anyone has anything bidable and you want to donate it, send it along!
Zanderis home for the weekend. I chatted with him briefly this morning. What a cutie he is. Go to his blog and read about his 21st birthday party plans. He's so awesome.
Well, I have to go do some school work. First he had the long blog-saga about his brother Topher on his blog, so I had to read that. Then, he was actually on line (which he never is anymore) so I HAD to chat with him on IM. SO, the point of all of this being that it's his fault that I've been a sucky blogger lately.

Nothing very exciting has been going on around here anyway. School's been good -- both work-school and school-school. I registered for summer and fall classes. My graduate advisor hooked me up so that I can take a class I was going to have to take in the fall on line this summer instead. That's HUGE!! I still have 2 classes to take in the fall, but 3 was going to be a bit much. So she's going to let me take one that's less important to my actual course of study on line instead. YEAY DR. BURKE!! What else? I over slept on Wednesday and go to school 2 hours late (which is 3 hours later than I usually get there). The school called my cell phone, which didn't ring (or something), so it didn't wake me up. So they called my parents to see if they knew where I was. PANIC!! Needless to say, mom was a bit freaked-out by that whole thing. When she called, the phone rang and woke me up, so I ran (FRANTIC) around the house throwing on clothes and getting ready. I got there at the end of 2nd period . . . and everyone was SO nice about it. No one yelled or wrote me up or anything. That actually made me feel WORSE!! But it's all okay now.
Okay, I gotta go get some work done in the 3D world. I'll check in with everyone later. TTFN!

This is going to be another short post. I have to figure out what I'm teaching to my Affective Skills kids in the morning. I had an easy day today -- I let all of my classes write letters to the Marines that I mentioned yesterday. They loved it -- they got SOOO excited. It was really cool, too, because most of my kids struggle a lot with writing; they just don't see it as a comfortable way of communicating. But they did it and now I have a pile of letters on my desk to mail to those boys. So cool.
On a more serious note, everyone go and visit with my favorite little blue friend, Zander. He's not feeling so swell and he needs some love. Go now. And what a beautiful morning it is. I was just chatting with Zander on Yahoo. Lemme just ask ya this, could he BE any cuter? It's amazing with what that kid has been through and is going through right now that he is one of the funniest, most positive people that I know. He is amazingly insightful, and he's only 17!! Anyway, go visit with him. He rocks!
So, now on to the news. How amazing is it that the Marines got back 7 POW's this morning? They even go back Ronald Young, the kid whose face they've been showing since the beginning of the war. Awesome. Speaking of which, I got an email the other day about a bunch of guys who have been over there for a while and have only gotten a letter or two. They have little or no family support and the email is asking people to send them cards and/or letters and/or post cards. If you have any interest in writing to these guys and want an address or two, leave me a comment and I will email the info to you. I don't want to just post their names etc. here.
What else? Oh, we went to the regional gymnastics meet. It was very fun. The teacher that I did my student teaching with and her daughter met Keith and me there. Our friends Shannen and Jayda were supposed to go to, but they didn't make it. SO Kathy (my lead teacher) and I got to catch up. Anyway, the Gymdawgs won handily but didn't do as well as we need to do at Nationals to beat Alabama and UCLA. Something tells me that they will be back in rare form by Nationals, though.
Well, I better go get some work done. I have to go back to school tomorrow and I have no idea what I'm going to teach to my Affective Skills kids. I should probably go plan a lesson or two. See ya later . . .

Just another quickie -- I know, there's been a lot of that lately. It's the last day of spring break (yep, count it, LAST day) and I have SOOO much work to do! I'm writing lesson plans right now (can't you see how hard I'm working?). The last one I actually wrote was 3/15ish, so I have to backtrack and write all of those and then actually plan what I'm gonna teach in the future!! I know that the principal is going to come to one of my classes on 4/29 to observe me so I have to have some fireworks that day. It's Holocause Rememberance day so I think I'll teach something based on that. He's coming to my Affective Skills class so the posibilities are nearly endless.
I'm on the phone right now doing my taxes with my dad, so I gotta go. I'm at my parents' house and my dad is doing my taxes. I'm not at all excited. We owed money 2 years ago, and then we got money back last year, so maybe we'll break even this year. My dad just handed me a quotation by Colin Powell. I don't know where he got it but I'm going to go ahead and post it and link it later.

"Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. I laid down for a while but I never actually fell asleep. I couldn't understand it, as I am somewhat of a professional napper. I nap daily. Not that laying around for a while and finally dozing off for a few minutes, either. I'm talkin' nap time? Okay, then zzzzzzzz. But not today. I laid there for an hour and thought all kinds of strange thoughts and realized that it was cold in the house and my feet were freezing, and my dog had bad breath and . . . well, you get the picture. An hour's worth of strange, randon thoughts. I realized a little while ago that I'd taken a non-drowzy allergy pill at lunch -- I'm thinking that the non-napping was the non-drowzy part. Anyway, so I gave up on it and decided to clean my kitchen. So that's what I'm doind now. Sort of. Well, I'm taking a short break from cleaning. I have a paper due tomorrow so I guess I need to start working on that too, but I wanted to check and see if Zander was on line, which he's not. Go to Zanderland and give him some love. He's having some new medication and it's not fun for him. But he has some really fabulous emoticons to express his displeasure with his extreme pukieness. Go see . . . go now, I'm pretty much done for now anyway. So I'm off to clean and compose a brilliant paper on identifying spelling disorders in children. Fun fun fun. See ya . . .

So I went out last night, sort of. It was the 70th Anniversary of the repeal of prohibition so I met some friends out for a drink after work. Well, after they got off of work, since I have spring break this week. So any way, one of my athletes called while we were having drinks asking if I was going to be in studyhall -- which I should have been since it was Monday but I wasn't going to go on accounta the anniversary. So, anyway . . . about 20 minutes (and half a drink) later she calls crying. It sounded something like " blah blah sob sob paper blah blah 2 extra hours of study hall blah blah extra practice blah blah". SOO I went to study hall to help her finish her paper, and then back to meet "the gang" to make sure everyone made it home safe and sound. Which they did. I was up and out late, like real grown ups! So now I'm miserable and REALLY need some coffee (and about 5 more hours of sleep, but I'll have to work on that later). For now, coffee and maybe a shower. TTFN
Hi Zander -- hope your little bald blue self is feeling better! On the radio morning show that I listen to on the way to school in the mornings they were talking about an email that one of the guys got from a listener. It seems that this woman found a pair of woman's panties in her husband's underwear drawer. They weren't hers, of course, because how is that interesting? Anyway, she assumed -- as we all would -- that he was cheating on her and they were the panties of his girlfriend. WELL, he claimed, though tears of shame and horror, that they were actually HIS panties. He said that he's been dressing in women's panties since before they were married. This lead to a long conversation among the djs about whether he was cheating or just a freak. Well one of the guys came up with a website called MANties - Panties made just for men. Last night at the party at Carl's I mentioned Manties to Alex, who took out his pocket computer thingy and took us directly to Manties.com! What a riot! You gotta go look -- they even have the ones with lace ruffles on the butt like little girls wear, and ones with days of the week on them! Now I've seen it all!

Okay, folks. What an amazing experience. I did the Avon 3-Day a few years ago (walking 60 miles in 3 days) and that was awesome, too. Talya Vexler, one of the gymnasts that I worked with at the University, found out about a month ago that she has breast cancer. She has a double mastectomy last week, so last night all of the Gymdawgs and a bunch of their supporters showed-up at the Relay. It was very cool. We were Team Talya. She walked a lap (amazing for 1 week after surgery) and then the rest of us walked for her. Anyway, it was an amazing experience and if you ever get the chance to take part in on of these events, it's a must do. They had a fund raiser there where you could buy a luminary bag and dedicate it in memory or in honor of someone. We did a ton for Talya and I did one in honor of Zander. So now I have a big ol' blister on my foot and I'm 'bout to die from the pollen!

So I brought the crabs home for spring break -- I think I'm gonna move them to a 10 gallon tank that I have and get them a heater and some sand to dig in. They came with a tank and stuff but it's really small. And contrary to popular belief, size really does matter. I have an old fishtank in the garage that I think I'm gonna clean up for them. There are a bunch of websites out there with suggestions of things to do for them to make them happy and healthy. It seems that there is much more to having crabs than I first thought. Hee Hee. So that's what I'm up to today. Keith and Alex are at our friend Carl's (Carl -- it would be REALLY nice to have somewhere to link here, but, whatever . . . ) for the Bell South Classic. They always have a big tadoo at Carl's house which is on the golf course where they play the classic. I'll probably head over there at some point, but it's raining right now and it's supposed to rain for most of the day. And I'm already sick and miserable from being out in the pollen and night air and rain last night at the relay -- and there is the matter of the blister. I should probably go now and pain my toenails so I can wear sandals.

Okay -- gotta go now and meet Keith and Alex (see links above) for breakfast. Later . . .

Just a quick "hi". I gotta go make dinner and consider doing some homework. I'm probably not going to actually do any homework, but I'm going to consider doing it, and that should count for something. At least my students think it does!
Oh yeah, I didn't blog yesterday. So y'all don't know . . . I HAVE CRABS!! Really -- I got 'em at school . . . in my classroom! I bought hermit crabs as classroom pets! They came in the mail yesterday. They aren't very active right now. I think they're still getting over the effects of spending a couple of days in a box inside a plastic container in a little fabric bag. Besides their crabitat isn't very warm. Next week, while I'm off, I'm going to get them a little heater and get their crib set-up all cool. But I haven't come up with good names for 'em yet -- I'm open to suggestions. I was thinking about literary hermits, so I thougth of Boo Radley from To Kill a Mockingbird, and Gretta Garbo who isn't literary but was certainly a hermit. But I'm at a loss for #3 and not convinced about #'s 1&2 either. Okay -- suggestions folks!!
Gotta go eat. Might be back in a little while. Today at school teachers passing in the hall greeted each other with "3 more days". It's a mantra of sorts. I think I can make it 3 days without killing anyone. I about killed my entire Biology class today. Instead, I did a pop notebook check on the people who weren't working. I checked people who were done, too, so they got an easy 100 for a quiz grade and the others got 30's and 50's.

Oh, Mollie and I were just chatting on IM and I noticed that TGO's last comment says "the choice is your pig". Now, normally I don't even bother mentioning TGO on my blog, but he shows such stupidity here, I can't let it go. The choice is my pig? What the hell does that mean?! Does it mean that TGO is my pig? That's very interesting. I've had people want to be my Valentine, or even just mine. But my pig? Is that some kind of self-denigration masochism game that I don't know about? I must admit, I'm not really up on that kind of stuff. I used to watch Springer late at night when I was a bartender and he used to have shows on things like people who liked to poop in their pants in public, and people who liked to be treated like crap by their lovers, but I never saw one about people wanting to be pigs of others. Very interesting, TGO.

Okay, I gotta go work on a project for school. Actually, 2 projects. One was due last Wednesday, so I figure I should finish it so I can turn it in tomorrow. Then I have to do the one that's actually due tomorrow. Something tells me that my students are going to be doing lots of independent seat work tomorrow while I work on this project. TTFN . . .

One more quick note and then I really must go work (I did finish the project that was due last week. Now I just have to do this week's one.) I'm watching Gilmore Girls and it's the one where Lane goes to a hockey game and I think Rori shows up there. When they show the game you can see a kid talking on his cell phone during the national anthem. Keith and I were on IM when this episode was on before and he threw a fit over the kid being on the phone during the anthem. They just showed it again and it was literally 3 seconds that they showed him. You couldn't even see him talking. Anyway, I think it's funny how partiotic (for America) my Canadian friend is. He even has a t-shirt that says "Proud to be an American". I make fun of him for wearing it -- I say we should write "friends with" with an arrow going between be and an.

Okay . . . now I gotta go.

Oh, just another quickie. Zander has asked that his blogger firends "please put a little blurb in your blog that my addres is www.zanderkind.com". It's COLD here again -- I had to turn the heat in my house back on. But anyway . . . I mowed my lawn today. That wasn't fun . . . seems like if you have to do yard work you should be able to enjoy the spring weather, right? Well, I guess not!
So, my sister and my nephew are here. I just love him. He's almost 2 and as cute as he can be. He speaks in complete (mostly) sentences and tells stories and everything. So cool. It's true that they grow up so fast! I can literally remember when we found out that Shannen was pregnant with Jayda (the youngun that went to the meet with us last night), and today she was reading to me! I can't believe that she's 6 already!
Anyway, enough of that. I gotta go read A Midsummer Night's Dream so I can teach it tomorrow. I'm very excited. We're meeting our friend Jimbo for lunch to pick up Jayda (the youngun). We're driving to Birmingham from there. It should be a blast.
I've been chatting on line with Zander and Mollie on line. Poor Zander is in the hospital fighting cancer. He's such a cutie pie.
I went to the school play at the high school last night. It was actually not bad. It was kinda long -- about 2 1/2 hours -- but at least it was funny. And most of the kids in it were pretty good. The leads were amazing -- I couldn't believe that they were teenagers! The next one they're doing is "Much Ado . . . ", so there won't be any singing and dancing to offset the staging and talking. I will, of course, let you know how that one is.
Well, I just finished my bowl of grits so now I better go get in the shower and get ready for the day. Later! Oh, and GO GYMDAWGS!!

Okay, so Zander's blog is there. I'm going to stop being a bad blogger. I have been busy though, honest. School is going well. I did great on my projects. I got 300/200 on one of them and 250/200 on the other one. That's even more exciting, considering I had no idea what I was doing.
Let's see -- what's new? The UGA gymnastics team (the GymDogs) are competing in the regional championship this weekend. It's in Birmingham, Alabama, which is about 2 1/2 hours from here. Keith and I are going and we're taking our friend Shannen's daughter with us. It should be fun. Our only real competiton at SEC's us usually Alabama, and we beat them both times we competed against them this season. We even beat them IN Alabama -- we ended their 5 year winning streak at home. We REALLY hate them.
By the way -- completely off the subject -- does anyone know where Zander is? I can't get to his blog and I need my Zander fix!! I chatted with him for a few minutes the other night -- what a cutie pie he is!! It's such a shame the crap he's had to go through and is dealing with now.
Okay, so I've made a startling realization that I'm not a bad blogger -- I just have nothing to write about! So I gotta go now. I'll come up with something interesting to write about later. Promise.

Keith emailed me today to tell me that I'm a bad blogger. But I'm busy -- I have a project due tomorrow and I've just started it, so I really don't have time to blog right now. SO . . . I hope that all is well with everyone and I will try to catch up soon. I just started reading a new blog and I like it. I've been both busy and lazy recently. There's really nothing new. School is going well. Most of my math class is passing now (they all failed first semester, so that's really exciting) so that's pretty cool. One of the teachers that I teach with is in the Reserves and his unit got activated, so Friday was his last day at school for a while. I'm not sure when they actually leave or where they're going, but it sucks that he's gone. I'm taking over his caseload, so I just inherited something like 20 students to keep up with. I know a lot of them so that's cool.
Grad school is going well, too. I'm only taking one class and my advisor is not being psycho (this semester) about what I have to do to finsih-up my student teaching. They made us do a TON of busy work last semester -- it was crazy -- so this semester I just have to send her notes letting her know what's going on and I'm supposed to be observed, but no one has talked about actually doing that.
So any way, I'm going to go and update my links on the side of my blog. See ya . . .

Okay -- just a quick note to say that I'm still alive. I've been really busy with school, and I think I have a sinus infection. I've been really dizzy and light headed for the past few days and my cheekbones have been hurting. I'm going to the doctor today at 3, so hopefully she will give me something to make me feel better. I'm supposed to have dinner with my friend Susan at UGA tonight, and then I have a study session at 7 and I have to meet with some other students afterwards.
Other than that, there’s not a whole lot going on around here. It’s been raining for the past few days –which is better than what Kate and them have been getting. And with the little one being sick -- what a nightmare!! So I’m not complaining (much). When I spoke to Mark last night he said it was 28 degrees and raining in Indiana. He said that the roads were as bad as he’d ever seen them – but did that cause him to stay home instead of going to play cards with his friends? Lord no! Not my husband. Hee hee hee. I actually need to call him in a little while and make sure he made it there and back safely.
Well, I better go do some reading for school and then practice the math that I have to teach tomorrow. Later.

Mark (my hubby, who has actually given me permission to mention him in my blog) called this morning and said that it's 9 degrees in Indiana -- that's cold. The pipes on the camper froze, so he was going to get some propane to thaw them out and he was going to fix any damage. I talked to him a few minutes ago and he said one of the pipes was broken and he fixed it without too much drama, and he was finishing the thawing. He was in Chicago earlier this week, and he said it was really cold there. I guess the temp wasn't much lower than it was in Indy, but the wind was horrible. Anyway, I sent him an impressively manly Valentine's Day present. He's on a high protein, low carb diet so I was sorta stressed over what I could send him -- I sent him cookies last year, but that's out now. SO, I went to Harry and David and sent him a big ol' prime rib!! It was delivered yesterday. He said as he was opening it he was saying, "Dammit, she knows I'm on a diet . . . " and then he saw what it was. I think he liked it. He says he has some other meat thawed that he has to cook first, but he's going to have it soon. I thought he could take it over to his friend Theresa'a and share it with them, but I guess we'll see.
So the high school has a team in the Relay for Life thingy to raise money for cancer research, and we're trying to raise money to support the team. I knew Keith was going to see our friend Carl (who is in Keith's photos and is part owner of our favorite watering hole) the other day, so I told him to hit Carl up for a gift certificate for the auction we were having at school to make money. Well, Carl gave us not one but two certificates for $25 each. Cool, huh? He tries to act like a hardass, but Carl's really a nice guy. But don't tell him I said so!

Just a quick note. I'm VERY tired and still have to do some reading for my class tomorrow, but Kat has made me feel guilty about not blogging so here I blog. School is great. Except for the fact that one of my students' parents has discovered that I'm not a real teacher, and that's why her son is failing my class. He has a 22 -- that's out of 100!! Apparently it has nothing to do with the fact that he has an IQ or 78 and he's in a class too advanced for him, or the fact that he misses weeks of class at a time and sleeps through classes the days he actually comes to school. Nope -- clearly the problem is me. In spite of my 4 years of post-graduate work, I am not equipped to teach her kid. Stupid Bitch. She is the epitome of the enabling parent. She lets her kid be lazy and whiny and makes excuses for his failures instead of admitting that he's not like everyone else and maybe she should change her expectations and get together with people who actually know what's best for her kid and set some goals that he can actually attain.
So anyway, other than that, things are great. Went to the gymnastics meet this weekend, that was fun. It was a fairly easy win so some of the girls didn't compete in the events that they usually do and others did routines that they don't normally do. So that was fun. I didn't do a whole lot else over the weekend. I continued the pursuit of the damn mice in my house. They keep disarming my traps -- damn mice. I came home Sunday afternoon to find that one of my dogs had gotten a broken trap out of the trash and chewed it up on my couch. I wasn't overly moved by it -- the trap had already been sprung so it didn't hurt the dog, and it didn't work anyway. Well, I was sitting on the other couch ironing when the same dog walked by all proud -- with a dead mouse in her mouth!! But I'm COMPLETELY sure that there wasn't a mouse in the trap when I threw it away. I really think that she just happened to chew up the trap and catch a mouse.Bizarre. So I distracted her and threw the mouse away. When she went looking for it, I told her that it had to go home -- that its mother had called and said it was time for dinner. So, that was Sunday afternoon. Then at 4:49 Monday morning (11 minutes before I have to get up for school) the same damn dog got into my bed with another dead mouse in her mouth!!! Nice way to start the day, huh? And by the time I had disposed of the damn mouse, it was too late to enjoy my last few minutes of sleep, so I went on and got ready for school. But here's the good news -- there has been no further evidence of mice. YEAY DOG!!!
Okay, now I must go read for school. Later, folks!

False alarm. I can't believe it's Thursday already. Almost the weekend again -- yeay!!
Here's a mouse update. The easy convenient traps are a bit too good to be true, it seems. I haven't even almost caught a damn mouse. So I had to move on to the old fashion metal snap spring thing on a piece of wood with a picture of a cute little mouse on it. Why do they have to have a cute picture on the damn mouse-killer? That ain't cool. I was putting a trap under the sink and guess what I saw run across the back of the cabinet (under the sink in back where it's dark and creepy) but the damn mouse!? Oh man, I was pissed. Okay, I was a bit freaked out at first, but then I was pissed. Keith says I should have thrown a trap at it . . . I say I should have chucked a cat at the nasty creature!! Anyway, so I set 4 traps; one in each place that I keep finding chewed-up stuff and lots of mouse poop. I fully expect to get up in the morning and find dead mice in the traps and for the whole rodent problem to be completely under control. I know, but I can dream, can't I? I'm afraid that if these don't work I'm going to have to go with the sticky kinda traps. That's what Shannen used and she said it worked like a charm. I checked the poisons that they have a Home Depot and all of them say to keep them away from humans and domesticated animals. Not cool. And one of those boasted that dead mice begin to appear . . . . OH GOD!! A trap just snapped and I don't want to go look. I think I will wait to make sure it has time to finish dieing before I go look. This is soooo uncool. Okay, I'm going in. Here I go . . . I'll report back later.

FINALLY the weekend!! Some how 4 days week seem to be longer than regular ones. I guess I just never get in the groove or something. Well, this one is finally over. I went to the Gymdawgs' meet last night. It was fun. It was against Michigan and we won handily. A couple of our girls scored 9.95's and we got some 9.9's. Good stuff. I got home around 10:30, and then at 11 Hookers at the Point was on HBO. Very entertaining. I know it's horrible to watch that stuff and be entertained by the misfortune of others, but I can't help myself.
I don't think I've mentioned this before, but there is a mouse living in my house. I'm not the least bit excited about this. I've known it was here for a while, but I actually SAW the damn thing the other day. It was in my cupboard eating my food. That was the last straw. I went to Target this morning and bought some mouse traps. I got the old fashioned kind with the metal bar that comes down and breaks its little neck, but they are housed in plastic boxes so you don't have to see the little dead thing. Then you can either take the poor little dead thing (that has been eating your food and shitting in your house) out of the trap or just throw the whole thing away. I haven't thought that far yet, I'll figure out what to do with the dead mouse after I've killed one.
Well, I better go do some work. More later . . .

Today was pretty much eventless. School was good -- I didn't do a whole lot. I think they are going to change my reading class. As it turns out, the 2 guys in there don't need as much reading help as their teachers initially thought. So they are going to move them to other classes and maybe give me another Jr. Language Arts class to teach. That'll be fun. I already have one Jr. Language Arts class, but it's team taught so I really just do support kinda stuff. This new class is actual resource, so I'll have them by myself -- I'll be the actual teacher. That would be cool. I know the kids in the class -- the teacher that I share a classroom with teachers them now, and I have my planning period during their Language Arts class, so I'm usually in there.
Well, I better go figure out what I'm going to teach in my social skills class in the morning. Later . . .

Well, I've accomplished pretty much nothing this weekend. Keith and I went to breakfast yesterday and then I went home and laid around the house all day. I had a migraine late yesterday afternoon so I had to take a nap, and then I just kinda sat around and vegged for the rest of the day. I've had 2 migraines in the past 3 weeks so I've decided that I need to go back on my preventative medicine. It's no big deal, really. It lowers my blood pressure and causes me to have leg cramps but no big deal. I just have to remember not to jump up too fast, and sometimes I get dizzy when I get out of bed, but it was effective before in preventing my headaches, so I guess I'll give it another try.
I haven't done a whole lot of anything today, either. I'm making the spaghetti to take to school tomorrow, and I'm washing clothes and straightening the house. I have a tutoring session tonight for Intro to Western Religion. 2 students at 7, and I'm supposed to have meetings every Monday night with 2 of the guys that I mentor so that's my plan for the day. I just finished a take-home quiz for my Writing Disorders class. It was kinda boring, but I think it's going to be a good class. The professor is a renowned scholar in the field of learning disorders, so I'm sure it will be awesome.
I gotta go work on my laundry and get some clothes together for school this week. I'll check in later. . .

It's late and I'm tired so I won't be blogging much tonight. I went to the Gym Dawgs beat Alabama (whom we hate) tonight. It was really close, we won by .025 points. The gymnastics version of a buzzer beater. And my girl Cory kicked ass. She got a 10 on beam! I think that's her first -- she got one on vault and bars in the same meet the year before last, but I think this is her first one on beam . . . in college, anyway.
That's pretty much all that I did today. I went to lunch with Shannen -- I didn't go to breakfast because I just couldn't motivate myself out of the house. I took 2 sinus pills before I went to bed last night and they knocked me out. I didn't even wake-up until 9 this morning, and didn't get out of bed until almost 10, then I make some coffee and just lingered around the house and watched soaps on the soap network. I called Shannen around noon and she and I went to Olive Garden for lunch. By the time we finished eating and ran an errand or two it was time to go to Athens for the gymnastics meet. So that was my day, and now it's almost midnight and I'm watching Oz then I'm gonna go to bed.
My cable internet isn't working today, so I'm back on dial-up until tomorrow when I'll mess with the cable and see if I can get it to work. Keith was considering getting rid of his DSL and getting cable, which would be about $20 cheaper and he'd get more movie channels but he thinks it sucks cuz of the problems I've had with mine. Oh well. I don't hate the cable modem, but I think I might if I didn't have the ol' dial-up as a back up. I'd be mad as hell if I hadn't had internet service for all of the time that my cable modem was out. And that's why I pay $21 something a month for MSN.
Tomorrow I'm going to make a big ol' batch of spaghetti sauce. The husband of one of the teachers that I work with is going through chemotherapy and they have 3 sons, so different people at school are making meals to take some of the pressure off of her. As it turns out, when people go through chemo, at some point their throats swell shut and they have to be fed through a feeding tube in thier stomaches. That's the point that he is at now; he gets water and Ensure every day through his feeding tube. Anyway, so tomorrow I'm cooking.
Now, I gotta go. I'm gonna finish watching Oz and then go to bed.

Okay, I only have a few minutes to blog on accounta I gotta go to bed soon. My new job started on Monday and I love it (so far). I teach 5 different classes: Social Skills, Jr. Language Arts, Reading, Math, and Biology. It's kinda hectic but it's fun. I really like the kids I teach. I usually only want to kill one of them at a time, so that's cool. I almost killed my whole math class today, but my favorite kid wasn't there. I'd ask them a question and they'd sit and stare at me blank faced. And I was just asking questions like "does that make sense?" and "do you get it?" Not good. I did that thing that teachers do, I scanned the blank faces in the room and said "I'm not talking to the dead -- I'm addressing the living here." Anyway, that's really the only thing I have to complain about today. Except for the fact that I had to go to class last night, and then I had study hall after so I didn't get home until 10, and had to be up at 5 this morning for school. I actually slept though my alarm, and when it finally did wake me up, I hit snooze and slept through that. I didn't get up until 5:20, and HAD to be at school by 6:45 for a department meeting. I actually got out of the house on time and made it to school by 6:35.
Okay, I'm tired and this is really boring so I'm going to bed to read for class tomorrow. Night all. . .

I had a good day and managed to accomplish almost nothing. I ate breakfast (brunch) with Keith and then we shopped for a while. I actually didn't get a whole lot of stuff. I got a few things that I need for school. We went to the dollar store (actually the$ .99 store) to get some stuff for my students to borrow -- like some $.99 calculators and a stapler and a few other things. Just stuff I can lend out and not be mad if I don't get it back. We went to Marshalls where we didn't get a whole lot of anything. Keith got some decorative bottles for his kitchen and I actually found something really cool. It's a Kenneth Cole Playing Card holder. It kinda looks like this, but it's black and more plain. I got it for my husband. He plays cards with a bunch of people every week -- I told him about it and he thinks it's a business card holder. It's not. And he seems to think I'm nuts thinking that he should show up at a card game in small-town Indiana with his cards in a Kenny Cole card holder. He might be right about that.
Anyway, Keith and I went back to his house so I could help him put up his new kitchen decorations. It came out really nice. We've been working on it gradually for a while and now I think we're about done with it. Once we finished that I sat down on his Laz-e-Boy couch for a minute and left like 4 hours later. His kitty (a.k.a. the Princess) had to go to the vet today and she was very sleepy from having to get a shot, so she and I sat and watched tv all afternoon. We watched School Ties and The Santa Clause.
The new season of Oz starts tonight. I think I heard the director and some of the actors talking about it being the last season. I'm not sure what I think about that. I love Oz. But HBO keeps coming out with kickass series one after another, so I'm sure what ever they put on in place of Oz will be awesome, too.
I'm going to go watch Oz now-- later.

Oh my goddess, does life get much better than this? I got the perfect job and I just realized that Girlrepair, one of my first favorite blogs, is back and it's been back for a couple of months, so I have a bunch of backblogs to read! Color me tickled pink!!
I bought a new shower head for my bathroom but didn't know anything about the white tapey stuff you have to use when you change stuff like that, so I soaked myself, my bathroom, and my dog while attempting to put it up. It's funny now, but at the time I was pretty frustrated. I just ended-up putting the old one back up until tomorrow. I also had a series of near-slips off of the edge of the tub while attempting to install the damn thing. I was having visions of myself as the idiot who comes into the emergency room on a Friday night trying to explain the broken arm and leg and why there is a shower head sticking out of her head. So, needless to say, I'm finished plumbing for the night. And now, I'm going to read some Girlrepair and go to bed. Night all!

Thanks for your nice comments -- y'all are so sweet. I'm VERY excited about the new job. I went today and did my paperwork and saw my classroom and stuff. I will be sharing a room with another Special Education teacher. She's really nice (thank the goddess). For right now they have a long-term substitute teaching my classes, so he is going to stay on Monday to show me around and help me figure out the ropes. That's cool, I was a little bit worried about that. I think it'll be fun, anyway. My sister (who is a teacher in Florida) gave me a bunch of teacher stuff for Christmas, and I was really scared to play with it -- I was affraid that it would jinx me and I wouldn't get a job. Well, now that I have a job I can play with it. It's very cool stuff -- a file folder box and file folders and a pen holder and high lighters and masking tape and stickers and a self-inking stamper and all manner of cool teacherish stuff. I'm very excited to take it to school with me and use it.
|Nothin else exciting really happened today. I had to go through a bunch of employee benefit information and stuff. We're going to save a TON of money switching from Mark's work health insurance to mine. It's like $200 less to get insurance through me than him, and it's comparable coverage. Very cool. I have to go to some 3 or 4 hour benefit orientation class thing next week to fill out the stack of paperwork I have. I'm sure that will be a blast.
Well, I'm at Keith's house watching Spiderman and I need to go win some points to build my Neopets a house. This isn't nearly as much fun as it sounds like. The county now says that my application file isn't complete because they don't have my SAT scores. What the hell is that? I'm a college graduate and they are holding out for scores from a test I took more than 15 years ago. Sheesh! Anyway, I have sent various requests to various departments in the universities that I've attended and hopefully someone will come through with the info. I really like the middle school and high school where I interviewed yesterday. Maybe only one of them will make me an offer and I won't have to make a decision.
I think I'm going to eat lunch with Keith. I had lunch with out friend Angie yesterday. She had a baby 4 months ago and I haven't seen him in forever -- she is the GM of a local restaurant and I had lunch there so I didn't see the baby. I might go have lunch with them tomorrow and see him. He's gotten huge since I last saw him. She brought pictures and now he looks just like his daddy. Very precious.
Alright, I'm off to shower and go to lunch. There were two that I really liked and I seem to be in the running for. One is teaching middle school math and language arts and the other is high school biology, math, reading, and social skills. The principal of the middle school called the teacher that I did my student teaching with and told her that she has narrowed the field to two candidates and I'm one of them. I think I was the most qualified of the candidates for the high school job. They both said they'd make their decisions by Friday so I guess I will know soon. Keep your fingers crossed(please).
Keith and I went to Best Buy and got cordless mouses (mice? I'm never really sure how that works) for our laptops. I got mine hooked-up and I'm not sure I love it. I guess it'll take some getting used to. We found ones that were on sale because they had been opened (I assume bought and returned). They were only $26.99 each. We were pretty stoked. We went to Hopps for dinner and had the seared tuna apetizer and all-you-can-eat ribs. I broke the golden rule of all-you-can-eat-- I didn't have a single re-order. It was all I could do to finish what they brought as the first order.
I've found a new time-sucker. It's Neopets. I got suckered into it by Kat -- she has one on her website. You have to play games to earn points to feed your pet and buy it toys and build it a house and stuff. It's a real time zapper, but it's fun.
Well, I think I'm going to go now and read. I want to finish my book before I start working, whick will hopefully be soon. See ya . . .

Did you see the hijacking drama in Germany this morning? We watched it on Fox News and CNN -- now that was a bunch of people spending a lot of time talking about nothing. It became obvious pretty quickly that they were just filling time waiting for something to happen. The guy was demanding to be allowed to talk to Michael Resnick and Keith and I were speculating who that was and why he wanted to talk to him. Boyfriend, maybe? Or the guy who stole his wife? After it was all over the news people said that the female astronaut that died on the Challenger had a brother named Michael Resnick. What a bizarre connection!
Mark is leaving today and then I have to finish the laundry and do some running around. I know for sure that I have to go to Target and get some cat food and some other stuff. I am almost completely out of cat food, and the cats have let it be known in no uncertain terms that that is unacceptable.
Right now we're watching a replay of the Tennessee vs Arkansas game from this past season. It was the 6 OT game and they are in OT #6 right now. What a long game!! The 25 yard thing is cool for a few possessions but after a while it just gets stupid. The announcers are talking about how tired the players must be.
I gotta go, Mark and I are meeting Keith for breakfast. More later . . .

I'm trying to get the house cleaned up and get laundry done today. Mark leaves for Indiana in the morning and I want to have all of his clothes clean before he leaves. We have a washer and drier in our RV (which he lives in on the road), but it is apartment sized so it's just easier to do his clothes here before he leaves. Then atleast he won't have that to mess with when he gets there. My parents came over this morning and my dad fixed the network in the house, so now I have high-speed internet access in the living room on my laptop. I was using MSN dial up out here and only had high-speed back in my office, and I'm rarely ever back there on the computer. My poor dad has been working on this thing for a month and a half. When we first started, Keith and Alex were going to put in a wireless network in the house but my dad said it wasn't a good idea, so he did a regular one. Keith hasn't said anything about what a cluster-fuck this whole thing has been, but I'm sure he's been thinking how much easier it would have been if I'd just had them do it. Oh well, it's done now.
Well, I'm watching Boiler Room (Vin Diesel -- yum) and trying to clean my living room so I better get back at it. More later.
Oh . . . the Gym Dogs open their season tonight in Nebraska. I just read that the team is beat-up (as usual) and we're only fielding 5 gymnasts on floor routine. Usually you field 6 and count 5, so since we're only fielding 5 we have to count all of them -- no matter what happens. Oh well, it's early and early meets really don't mean anything except for bragging rights. It's strange how the post-season stuff works. The top 6 teams in each region compete to go to nationals, and what ever team wins the national meet is declared the national champion, no matter what happened earlier in the season. Same with individual gymnasts -- you can be ranked 15th on an event all season long and just make it to nationals, and then have a kick ass night on the event and you're national champion of that event. It's strange.
Oh well -- back to cleaning. More later.

Well, New Orleans was a blast and the game went well, but I'm really glad to be home. Fridays and we went shopping. Shannen joined the Gold Points Club thing while we were there -- she was very excited, even though we couldn't figure out what it was for or what she would get when she hit some random number of Gold Points. Anyway, then we shopped. I got a pair of boots, a purse, and some perfume and lotion at Marshall's. Shannen was good, she only got some socks and a backpack for her daughter, Jayda. We went to Petco afterwards and each of us bought dog food. They had some VERY cute dogs there for adoption and we left without one. I was very proud of us (mostly me) for that. Now I'm home kinda cleaning. I have yet another load of laundry washing and I'm kinda putzing around cleaning the house. Shannen said she might come over tonight to watch Harry Potter -- I'm not holding my breath. I'm sure she fully intends to come over, but I just don't see her actually leaving her house. I guess we'll see.
Keith has the plague again (still?) so he's taking it easy today. He was going to take down his Christmas lights but he decided to leave them up for a few more days. I'm trying to get him to leave them up year 'round, trailer park style, but he's not going for it. Maybe he hasn't lived in the south long enough to appreciate that bit of southern culture. I guess in Canada there is some kinda bad luck thing if your Christmas lights are up past New Years. I knew that about the Christmas tree, and that you have to eat collards and black eye peas for New Year's Eve, but nothing about outdoor lights. I guess ya learn something new every day. Well, off to clean. More later.

We went to Dave's going away party last night and saw the world's worst bloggers -- Alex and Angel. Dave did his last karaoke show -- which turned into a ode to his being "in love" with someone who doesn't love him. Actually, it's more like being in love with someone who enjoys having someone follow them around and make them feel attractive and worthwhile. Anyway, we had fun. Keith and I got to hang out with Alex (world's worst blogger) and Angel (2nd worst), so that was cool. Carl had his boys up there for a while, too. That was cool -- I see them a couple of times a year and I've known them all of their lives so it's fun to see how big they're getting. We took lots of picutres which I'm sure Keith will post soon (hint hint). I think I might go eat some brunch. later . . .

Well, Christmas was great but I'm ready for things to get back to normal. We're out of school for 2 more weeks, and I'm not quite sure what to do with all of that time. HOPEFULLY I'll be going on job interviews and getting a job to start teaching in January. I also have to rearrange stuff in the house to find places for our Christmas presents. As usual, mom went a bit overboard buying for all of us for Christmas. Not that I'm complaining, don't get me wrong.
Our plans for going to New Orleans for the bowl game have changed, too. Mark was going to drive there from Indiana and I was going to drive from here and we were going to meet there on 12/31. Now he's going to drive to Atlanta on 12/30 and we're going to drive together to New Orleans on 12/31. Then we're driving back here on 1/2 and he doesn't have to leave again until the following Sunday. That's cool, since I wasn't looking forward to driving there and back by myself. I think it's about 500 miles each way. Mark's new thing is he wants to watch DVD's while we're driving, so I'm supposed to be getting a car adapter for my laptop.
Anyway, Keith and the princess will be home tomorrow night and we have to go to our friend Dave's last show on Saturday. He's moving to Florida on Sunday.
Well, I gotta go make some coffee and get moving. I met my friend Shannen and her current boytoy out for dinner before I came home. Keith went to Canada for the week to spend Christmas with his dad and Dave is supposedly packing his house for his move to Florida. He start his new job there on January 1 (well - probably January 2). He's all excited about making a new start, so I guess that's cool.
Shannen wants to go ice skating today -- there's an outdoor rink they set up every Christmas at the Mall of Georgia. We're supposed to go at noon and then go to the movies, but she seems to have turned her phone off. I'm a little affraid that she turned her phone off last night on accounta she had a drink or ten and she didn't want it to wake her up. I just paged her, and I'm gonna give her a little while to call me and then I'm going to her house to wake her up.
Oh, I forgot, my husband won the lottery! He and another guy split a ticket and got 4 out of 6 numbers -- they won $100!! And he had 2 other tickets on which he won $3 each -- so his take was $56! And then they turned around and spend another $43 on tickets so they can win the rest of the jackpot. That's a redneck retirement plan if I've ever seen one. But I guess someone has to win, and it may as well be us.
Okay, I'm going to shower and drag Shannen out of bed. Will post more later.

Okay, 4 days since I blogged. Not so bad. I'm watching Will & Grace. I love them. It's the Christmas one, where Jack has to design the Barney's Christmas window. So funny -- Parker Posey told will that she was going to go "carnival freak crazy" on his ass. So I'm watching that, eating some chicken noodle soup with stale Saltines (it doesn't get much worse than that) and IMing my friend Keith. He's watching Survivor. I watched the first Survivor, but after that I really couldn't get into it. I'm not a big reality tv fan -- other than The Real World, of course. I liked Sorority Life, too. But that was really just The Real World in a sorority house.
Anyway, so I'm off to Florida tomorrow. My cousin died the other day and her viewing is tomorrow and the funeral is Saturday. My mom and I are driving down. Man, December is not a good month for me. Last year, the day after I finished school my best friend died and this year it was my cousin. I think I might just sleep through December next year. Anyway -- I'm doing laundry and trying to get stuff together to leave tomorrow.
Okay, if you haven't done so yet, go read about Kat's day. Craziness -- imagine if that had been your kids! That's the kind of situation where you assume the worst about the people from the start but sometimes it's not really as bad as it seems. At least the babies are safe. Yeay Kat!!
Well, I better go finish getting ready to leave. See ya --

GOOD GOD -- I haven't blogged for quite a while! Well, as y'all know, we won the SEC and will be in New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl. It's GREAT to be a Georgia Bulldog. Our friend Tommy came up from Florida to go to the SEC Championship game. There are a bunch of us who worked at Barnacles over the years who have remained friends. Keith is a member of that group, as he was one of my regulars when I bartended. Tommy and I waited tables together, and then bartended together, and then he was a manager while I was a bartender. Tommy, a guy named Jim (from the group -- he's been with Barnacles forever, too) and I rode to the game together with another guy. His name is Chris and he is the Bud rep for Barnacles. We went to one of the Barnacles around noon and did a couple of shots to start off the day and then headed down to the Dome to tailgate and get ready for the game. We had a blast. Then I stopped drinking because I was designated driver. And it's a damn good thing I was, too, because my boys got DRUNK! Tommy is a Bartender at the Barnacles in Tampa and he closed the bar on Friday and didn't go to bed, he just flew to Atlanta and I picked him up, we met up with Jimbo and went from there so by the time we left the parking lot at the dome he was on hour 36 or so of his day. He hung tight, though. We went and ate after the game (around 1 am) and he was up for all of that. He fell asleep in the car on the way home. What a trooper.
The week since the game has been a bit hectic. The high school is getting ready for finals and UGA is in the middle of finals. My guys are all passing everything so we're not overly stressed, mostly we're studying for the difference between A's and B's or B's and C's. It's pretty cool. Anyway, thier finals are over on Wednesday, so I'm done then until January. Hopefully I'll have some job interviews in the mean time and get a job to start teaching for real in January. That's what I really need. But I guess we'll see.
What else? Our friend's daughter's birthday is Tuesday so they had a party for her at one of the restaurants. 12 12 year olds singing karaoke. What a blast. It really wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. The birthday girl, Jordan, is one of my favorite people on earth. She is definitely my favorite nonadult (other than my nephew, but he's family so he doesn't count). Anyway, she was the ring leader for the day. She and one of her little friends ended-up riding back to her house with us. I think I'm going to see if she wants to hang out this week. I told her and her friend that I teach Special Education and Jordan said she doesn't see why people have to call it that -- why do they have to lable people like that? She's so awesome. She, at 12, sees things that a lot of people don't see as adults.
Well, I better go. I'm going to take a bath and read a book that wasn't assigned for school (first time I've done that since August!) Later.

Well, it's Friday and the SEC game is tomorrow. I'm taking it easy tonight -- my friend Shannen had to work so I'm watching her daughter, Jayda. We are watching the DVD of Harry Potter (whom she calls Harry Powder . . . how cute is that?). We ate Chick-fil-a for dinner and in a few minutes, when our dinner settles we are going to make popcorn.
I REALLY need to be working on my research proposal -- a 10 page prospectus is due on Tuesday and I'm on page 1. It won't ke that hard once I get to work on it. I was planning on coming home early last night and working on it but I ended-up working with one of my students on a project until really late, and then I was going to do it tonight but Shannen needed me to watch Jayda. And frankly, chillin with a 6 year old is WAY more fun than doing corelaqtional coefficients. This week has been fairly uneventful, thank goodness. We start finals (at the college) on Wednesday, so all of my guys have papers and projects coming due, and with the game and all it's been kind of hard to get them to concentrate to complete anything. Thank goodness Gerald came over on Thanksgiving and did his dance paper so I don't have to worry about him. I only have 2 papers to do -- the 10 page perspectus and a 20 page paper for my hip-hop class. Like the other one, that one won't take long to write once I sit down to do it -- it's just a matter of finding the time.
My student teaching ended today, but I'm still going to go because it's so much fun. I'm still hoping that the county will decide that they need another Special Education teacher at the high school and they will hire me for January. I have gotten some inquiries from other school systems, so I'm hopeful that I will find a job for Spring semester. I really need to, since I quit my research assistantship, which means no pay check except for from the athletic department, and that just ain't gonna cut it.
My friend Keith and his dad and our friend Carl (who doesn't blog on accounta he sucks but he owns our favoritewatering hole, so . . . )went to Tampa for the weekend to set up a wireless network at the Barnacle's down there. I'm watching the Princess while they're gone. I was thinking I might mess with Keith's computer and set his homepage to the NAMBLA home page or something, but I was affraid he's come up with some horrible type or retaliation that would make my internet stuff come up in Hebrew or something. So, I decided against it.
Okay, I know it's Friday and all but I'm tired so I think I'm gonna sign off and watch the movie with Jayda. Nite all -- GO DAWGS!! (and Hokies -- what ever the hell a Hokie is)

Well, we're sitting and waiting for this great ice storm that's supposed to come tonight. It looks like it's going to pass to the north of us. The kids at he high school were all sure that we wouldn't have school tomorrow. They are going to be VERY disappointed. I'm sure none of them are doing their homework. Oh well. My day was relatively eventless. I didn't get home from study hall until 11:30 last night (because I'm a sucker and I can't say no when one of my boys needs help on a project -- even one that I told his lazy ass to finish last week) so today was a long day, but nothing exciting happened.
Now I'm trying again to watch the Sopranos from Sunday. I fell asleep the other night when I was trying to watch it so I missed the end. I think I'm going to make myself some soup and watch tv and the weather. Later

According to the angel selector on a link I pilfered shamelessly from da Goddess, I would be

<a href="http://www.selectsmart.com/FREE/select.php?client=whichangel "target="_blank">Which Angel would you be?
By Angel

I'm at school right now working on a paper and I had to take a second to check out some blogs. All work and no play and all.
So, anyway, did anyone catch the UGA football game this weekend? It was a romp. We had our 4th string (the scout team) in by the end of the game and we still scored. Yeah, guys whose only job it is is to let the starters beat the crap out of them every day in practice even scored on Georgia Tech. These guys spend more time learning the other team's plays than our own! Anyway, Tech sucks and we proved it this weekend. I think one of my favorite moments of the game was when a plane flew over the stadium flying a banner that said "To Hell with Georgia", and we were beating then something like 34 - 0. It was priceless. Well, back to the grind. Mark ended-up leaving Indiana around 10:30 last night. I guess he drove for a while and then stopped to sleep. I called him at around 7 when I first woke up and I think the phone woke him up. He sounded really bad -- said he'd been asleep and he was about to start driving again. He was just outside of Chattanooga. I called again a couple of hours later -- I guess he'd fallen back to sleep after we spoke and when I called again he had just woken up and was driving again. Well, since we were going to my parents' house for the day, he decided just to go straight there instead of driving all of the way home first. So I went over there around 10 and he got there around noon. I had a car full of food to take over -- I guess that because I was cooking all day I didn't really notice how much stuff I had but there was a BUNCH!! Gerald, one of my students that was supposed to come over, had called Wednesday night and said that the others wouldn't be coming, so I called and told mom not to make a ton of food, so most of what we ate was what I made. They had a 16 pound turkey (which we put a hurtin' on) and mom made stuffing, rice and black beans, sweet potatoes (on which she mannaged to burn the marshmallows without melting them -- I'm not at all sure how that works, but she managed), and I think that was it. It was all really good. Mark told this very touching story during dinner. It was really sweet -- he had trouble getting through it. I'd already read the article but he heard it on the radio while he was driving home. Well, I thought I had the link -- I'll have to find it and edit later. But it was about a . . . oh, here it is. This is a must read -- in case you ever wonder why we teach Special Education, here is your answer.
Anyway, Gerald had a paper to write for school, so we got that out of the way while everyone else napped after turkey. It actually worked out really well. Then he left and we had turkey sammiches -- my favorite part of Thanksgiving dinner -- and then Mark and I came home. We hung out for a little while and now he's sound asleep. We got a Christmas package from his parents about 2 weeks ago, and instead of opening it and being tempted to open the wrapped packages that I knew would be inside I just left it exactly as it had come in the mail. Well, Mark was in the house for about 10 minutes before he'd ripped into not only the mailing box but the Christmas presents as well. He's aweful -- but we got some good gifts. We got hand knitted slippers, and some fleece throws, and a electric roaster thing. I think it's like a crock pot, but different. I think I'm gonna try to make a roast in it before Mark leaves. It's worth a try, anyway.
It's gotten cold here all of a sudden. I wonder what the weather's supposed to be like for the game Saturday. I can't believe the season's almost over already. I was talking to Gerald about it today. He said he knew what I meant, but they were really ready for a rest. Poor babies, they really are beat up. They all have sprains and strains. They're really not used to playing such long seasons. Even the ones who played last season -- we have an extra regular-season game, and then the SEC game. We get a break for a couple of weeks and then the bowl game. Oh well -- they're young.
Alright, I gotta go to bed. Night all -- hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!b

I've been cooking and cleaning all day, getting ready for Thanksgiving. Well, actually a little more cooking and shopping than cleaning. Mark is coming home tonight and he and I are going to my parents' house tomorrow. A couple of my students are coming over, too. They have practice everyday so most of them can't go home for turkey, so Gerald and Tony are supposed to come over for sure, and maybe Junior Gathers, too, if he doesn't go to his uncle's house in Atlanta. They have practice til around 11:30 tomorrow so we're going to eat around 3 or so. My mom has to work tommorrow night so she's going to have to have a nap of some sort during the day. I've made squash casserole and I'm baking a broccoli casserole now, and a pan of chocolare pecan bars. I still have to make Gerald's macaroni and cheese (his only request) and a fruit pizza I found a recipe for on a website.
The movie In the Gloaming is on HBO right now. I don't know why I'm watching it -- it's horribly sad. It's about a young man with AIDS who comes home to die. He's very cute and sweet and going to die. I guess I'm watching it because Glenn Close and Bridget Fonda are in it and I love them. That's just going to make it worse, though, when it gets really sad. I think I'm going to turn it. Mad About You is on -- I'll watch that.
Oh -- and I'm making black eye peas. I forgot about them -- they're in the crock pot. I started then around noon and I'm going to let them cook until I go to bed tonight. Then we can just heat them in the crock pot tomorrow. That'll be easy enough.
Gotta go check on the food in the oven. More later . . .

Okay, now Keith has the plague. He had it the other day, any way. He seems to be feeling better now. We're at his house watching a movie -- we're going to eat steaks in a little while. We ran some errands earlier and I was famished so we went to a restaurant and ate some apetizers so we didn't starve or kill each other, and now we're going to watch a movie for a little while and then he's going to cook us some steaks. I STILL haven't used the new knives I nagged him into buying, so I'm gonna tonight.
So, it's been a while since I've blogged. School has been really busy. It's coming down to the end of the semester so I have my own work to do plus my athletes to keep up with. My guys are actually doing pretty well (they aren't working as hard on their school work as I would like for them to, but they are still doing okay), so the counselors keep adding people who aren't doing as well to my list of responsabilities. They see me as some sort of miracle worker (they do when they want something from me, any way), which is really rather funny to those who actually know me.
Anyway, so we finally finished The Old Man and the Sea. It was okay, but reading it 25 pages at a time 3 times a day was getting a little old. The classes all took the test and for the most part they did really well. Everyone who bothered to come to class on a some what consistent basis and paid at least a little of attentiond at least passes, and most of them made grades good enough to pull up their class grades, which is really cool. The only ones who failed are ones that we don't like anyway.
Not much else interesting to tell about all that -- my student teaching ends in a couple of weeks and I really need for them (or someone) to offer me a job.
Okay, I gotta go for a while. We're trying to watch the movie Murder by Numbers, but neither of us is paying attention to it. Later --

I just shamelessly pilfered this from Kate. I'm almost done -- I just have to finish it up and actually hand it in. I did get caught up on the assignments for my practicum. And I handed in my take-home test in my research class and did my research proposal presentation in there. So this is all I really have left to do. That make it not sound so bad, doesn't it? Yeah, that's the ticket.

But as you can see, instead of working on that damn paper I'm reading blogs and taking online personality quizes. I watched the Sopranos, too. That took quite a bit of attention, considering that I was on MSN instant messenger with Keith the whole time. It was a good episode, but not as good as last week. Last week Tony beat a guy to death with his bare hands. That was pretty good. Actually, he choked the guy to death. This week they kicked the crap out of Christopher -- after Christopher killed Adriana's dog -- so that was pretty cool, too. But Adriana's puking and Tony killing Ralphie were still better.
The Osbournes is on right now. Love them. Kelly is whining that Jack gets tons of publicity and she doesn't get any. Ozzy is like, "get the fuck over it, what do you want me to do about it?" He's funny as hell and half deaf -- he can't hear Kelly and she's sitting right in front of him. Aaah, the Rock 'n' Roll lifestyle!

Alright, back to the paper.

Alrightiethen -- now How 'Bout Them Dawgs!? Oh my God what an amazing game! It was cold and windy and we only led for 85 seconds, but it was the LAST 85 seconds of the game!! I just have 2 words for ya -- GO DAWGS!! SEC here we come. We have next weekend off (which is great for me, cuz I have a TON of work to catch-up on) and then the week after that we're going to pound the shit outta Tech -- on accounta we hate them and they suck, and the next weekend is the SEC game. I think we play Arkansas. I don't know what they're about but we gotta beat 'em. Then we should go to a really good bowl game. That'll be fun since it's been (quite) a while since we have gone to a good one. Outback was fun -- Tampa and all. Then there was Hawaii, which cost the school a ton of money, and Music City was freezing. Well, I better go work on my paper. This is proof positive that Halloween is just an excuse for women to go out in public dressed as hoochies.

Oh My God, how much of an asshole is Keith?! If you don't know the answer to this question, see comment 5 below. He knows that he's the worst blogger but he's trying to put that on me. I'm just playin', I know his criticism is meant to be constructive. I know he just has a little bit of blog envy.
Anyway, so those Hinkels he's so proud of -- the only reason he bought them was because I nagged him because the only knives he had were a little utility knife and a Ginsu-esque chef's knife thing. Oh, and some nice steak knives. Nice house, nice stuff, nice kitchen, sucky knives. Not cool. So I nagged him and pointed out good ones and we shopped together and found some good deals and then he bought them. He got these with these and this block. Yeah, now who sucks? Not me. Or maybe I have a bit of knife envy. Who knows?
Well, as you can see, I am in fact not dead from the plague. I actually started feeling better on Sunday, but I'd been sick since Thursday, so I got behind in my school work. I've been trying to get caught-up since then. Right now I'm on line 7 of page 2 of a 10 page paper that's due tomorrow morning at 11. So there, I'm not really the worst blogger, I'm the worst student. Now I gotta go and finish my paper.

Alright, so now I'm sick. I think I have a cold, or the flu, or Bubonic Plague or something. Don't laugh, it's possible. There are people in New York who got it from New Mexico or something. Just because I haven't been to New York or New Mexico (or anywhere else new, for that matter) doesn't mean that it's impossible. I'm sniffly and stuffy and I just want to lay on the couch and watch Will and Grace -- good thing it's Thursday because it's on 3x tonight. Right now is the new one, and it's super sized. It's like 10 minutes longer than usual!! What more could a girl ask for?
So for dinner I had tomato soup with noodles and pink lemonade. If that's not the perfect meal to combat the plague, I don't know what is. Ya know, this is serious. The plague killed lots of people in its day. I just read about it on Encarta and it said that if you get the plague you either die in 4 days or start getting better in 5 days. So far, the only symptom that I have is generally feeling ill, but I'm sure that the others are just around the corner.
Okay, I gotta go to bed. Plague is getting to me. Yes, I'm still alive. I've just been really busy. The teacher I work with has been sick so I've been teaching her classes.
It's fun, but a lot of work. We're still reading The Old Man and the Sea. I'm not sure that we're ever going to finish -- and it's only 126 pages long. Yep, 126 pages of a man and a fish. Now, I know that it's about determination and preserverence, but get on with it for Christ sake.
Keith and I just got back from dinner. It was very good -- steak and a loaded baked potato, soup and salad, and a seared tuna appatizer. I am very stuffed. (and yes, TGO, I imagine that it is all going right to my 500 pound pimpley ass) He played a mean trick on me last night (check out his blog for the details).
Anyway, school is going well. It's getting down to the end of the semester, so I have projects coming due, and the boys have projects coming due so I'm thinking I'm about to get really busy. That's okay, life is good. My hubby is coming home for the weekend and we're going to the Georgia football game this weekend. I'll get us field passes and the whole 9 yards,so it should be fun. It's a night game, which sucks, but it should be a good game. And I thinkUF plays early so they can loose and then we can win and tie up the SEC east, which will be very cool. It could be a good weekend.
Okay, I gotta go home. later

Alex informed me the other night that I suck as a blogger, and I'm not sure that I can dispute that. I've been horribly busy and I have nothing interesting to say. My Bulldawgs (I mean my and Acidman's Bulldawgs) beat the bejesus out of Kentcky last weekend. That was very cool. We have Florida tomorrow, and if (when) we beat them we should win out. I can't go to the game because of a job fair at the high school on Saturday. That really sucks, but if I end-up getting a job (and we win the game) it will be worth it.
I'm at the high school right now. The kids are in the computer lab doing some kind of figure-out-what-you-want-to-be-when-you-grow-up exercise on the computers. It's kinda cool, but what the hell do 14-year-olds know about the rest of their lives? There are kids in this class that just hope that they don't end-up in prison for the rest of their lives. There was a kid a month or so ago that set one of the school trailers on fire. He's in big-boy jail in a huge way. Kids are so stupid.
Keith finally got his new laptop. He canceled the one he ordered off of the internet and went to the store and just bought one. I'm not sure why he didn't do that in the first place. I'm such a fan of instant gratification that I'm all about driving down the street and buying something instead of waiting of it to come in the mail. Anyway, so he's all happy now.
Gotta fly, there's the bell.

Well, I'm off to Kentucky for the game tomorrow, so I won't be on line again until Sunday. I had my classes at UGA and then went to studyhall for a couple of hours. I finally got a ticket for parking in a "patient only" parking lot behind the building that my classes are in. I've been parking there for 2 months, so I guess $25 (for the ticket) to park there for 2 months isn't all that bad.
I got home tonight to find one of my dogs waiting for me on my front porch. Imagine my surprise. I guess they've dug another hole under the fence. I'll have to fix that tomorrow before I leave for Kentucky for the football game.
I'm IMming right now with Alex, Angel, and Keith. It wasn't that bad, really. I only read it twice. My supervising teacher read it to 1st period (7:30 was just a bit early for me to be trying to read) and the teacher she team-teaches with read it twice. So I read it twice while the teacher I work with graded the students' personal narrative essays they turned in on Monday. Now, let me tell ya about a fate worse than death -- reading those things was painful. Out of 5 classes that wrote them, only 2 people passes. That's 2 out of like 75 kids. Horrifying. So I definately had the easier assignment.
Okay, so anyway, check out the write-up on my boy Tony in the Atlanta paper. I can't wait to see him play for real in a game, instead of just being the guy they go to when Musa needs a rest. Now they're saying that Musa might play. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Tony's been doing well in practice so maybe Coach will really give him a shot.
I'm leaving school early on Friday to drive to Lexington for the game. My husband, Mark, is working in Indiana so he's going to drive down and meet me in Lexington for the weekend and go to the game with me. That should be fun. It's probably going to be the only game he makes it to this season, so we have to win!!
Alright, I gotta go and read and article and write an article review for my research class tomorrow. Something tells me that I'll be back later, as this article review is likely to be REALLY boring. Later.

My friend just sent me this clock.. He thinks it's cool that we talked about him while we were out -- it was actually kind of funny. Keith made a really stupid comment about something that Alex said and I said, "that was a good one, TGO". And it was downhill from there. He was the butt of all of our jokes all night long. And as new people joined the conversation we had to explain who this idiot was and how Alex and Keith make him look like an idiot on my blog, so now they're all going to read my blog to see who this moron is. Pretty funny, huh?
Anyway, I went to the football game yesterday. It was very fun. It was perfect football weather and we beat the snot out of Vandy. I'm sure people are going to say we should have won by more, or that this or that player sucked, but who cares?! We have UK next week, with their Hefty Lefty quarterback, and then it's pretty much smooth sailing from there. Let me just tell ya, it's GREAT to be a Georgia Bulldog. I just wish Acidman had been there. I'm going to have to get him to go to a game.
Keith just sent me this -- it's hysterical.
Okay, I gotta go to work now. See ya.

Well, we've decided to go the other way with this whole TGO thing. Alex, Keith, Angel and I went to Barnacles tonight and we were talking about what a moron TGO is. I said that I think we should just ignore him and he'd go away. Alex would hear nothing of it, as he is having too much fun making TGO look like the fool that he is. Since was a bit put off by my blog being dragged down to his level with the name calling, etc., Angel suggested that we create a blog just to make fun of TGO. So, here it is. It is obviously under construciton, but I expect that we will have it up and running in a couple of days, so check it out.
I have to go to bed soon -- we play Vandy tomorrow and it's an early game. I have to be in Athens (about an hour from the house) by 9:30. It should be fun -- we're favored by twentysomething points and since the game starts at 12:30 I should be home early so I can actually get some stuff done tomorrow.
So I better log off and go to bed. Later . . .

Hi all. Just a quick note. No one respond to TGO anymore, please. I'm bored with the fat jokes and moronic chatter. I'm sure that he's like those 14 year old kids that act out in school to get attention. I've finally updated my list of blogger-friends so go visit. Do y'all (everyone except for Alex) like the reference to his blog? It actually came about sort of by accident, but I think it's funny. While I'm thinking about it, everyone go to Blogtree and do your blog pedigree. It's pretty cool and you can find other fun blogs there. That's where I found Katand I love her. And I learned that I have like 8 sibling blogs! How cool is that?
One more thing and then I have to go write some lesson plans. Go to NJ Guido.com. I know we did this before, but I hadn't been in a while so I had to go back and thought I'd remind others to do the same. It's really funny. You know it has to be cold up there, or at least cooling off, and the guidettes are still half nekkid (in the words of Louis Grizzard, that's n-e-double k-by god-i-d. That means you ain't got no clothes on and you're up to somethin'). Too funny.
Okay, I gotta do some work and then go to bed. Night.

Wow, I didn't think it was possible but TGO's comments on my blog have gotten even more inane. I feel a need to apologize to my friends who come here and are not entertained by his idiocy. I guess that when you challenge an imbecile to "bring it", moronic drivel is what you should expect. I have, in effect, entered into a match of wits with an unarmed opponent. Touche.
Anyway, so it's been an interesting couple of days. I think I've set a record for having been pulled-over the most times in a week. I got a speeding ticket last Sunday; I was going 83 in a 55 (which I thought was a 65 -- honest!!), and then I got pulled over this past Sunday for one of my tail lights being out, and yesterday for speeding again -- and I wasn't even going that fast. I was doing 78ish in a 65. The cop was an older man and he scolded me for driving too fast in the rain. I just said "yes sir" and "you're right, sir", and he let me go with just a warning. He called it a warning, anyway. I call it more of a scolding, but either way it isn't going to cost me any money so I'll take it.
Well, I've added my friend Carl's restaurant to my list of sites I like. The truth be told, it really is a site I like, both literally and figuratively. That's where Keith and I go on Friday nights to hang out with our friends and make fun of people singing karaoke.
Well, it's almost 11:30 and I have to be up at 5:30 so I better go to bed. I don't have my early class at UGA tomorrow so I'm going to the high school to teach/hang out instead. I think my supervising teacher thinks I'm a crack head or something, but I really like it there. I get to do all the fun stuff, like teaching classes and planning lessons and stuff, but I don't have to do any of the administrative crap so it's very fun. And the kids in the classes I'm working in are very sweet. So I have to go to sleep now. Night all.

Hey -- check out my friend Angel's website. Isn't she a hottie? She's an actress and just finished producing a movie about a vampire. Very cool. It should be out by the end of the year. They were trying to get it ready for release on Halloween but it didn't work out that way. Now she's working on a plot for a comedy. I helped her with some ideas, it was fun. Her husband Alex is a friend of ours (mine and Keith's), too. He's very funny and sarcastic and mean to/about people we don't like. I've always loved that about him.
Anyway, so I woke up today to the sound of a 17-year-old hottie weedwacking my yard. Pretty cool, huh? Yeah, I have this thing about my yard. I really like for it to look nice but I hate having to do any work in it at all. I cut the front a couple of weeks ago, and while I was doing so this hottie was doing my neighbor's yard. And do ya think I went over and hired him to take over duties in my yard? You bet your sweet ass I did. So now my front and back yards are cut, wacked, edged and trimmed. Pretty cool, huh? I'm very happy with the whole thing.
So I went to Keith's for dinner. It was quite good but a bit late. He made a pork roast and was concerned that it wasn't done enough. I informed him that if we didn't eat soon I was going to eat the cat. With that, he decided that the roast was done enough. And it was perfect.Keith has a new garlic mill -- it's like a pepper mill or a salt mill but for garlic. Very cool.
Alright, I gotta go get ready for class tomorrow. Oh, I thinkKeith is changing the name of his blog. Go see -- hee hee hee.

I was informed today by a nonblogger (CARL!!) that I suck as a blogger. How uncool is that?! Now I really have to start keeping up with my postings. Anyway, I got a flat tire today. Keith changed it for me and went with me to drop it off to get fixed, and then we went and ate breakfast and shopped for some knobs to make all of his furniture match. I REALLY love spending other people's money. We (well, he) spent $60 on knobs! Who does that? But to his credit, we did it quickly.
We also went to Walmart, which is always fun, and went to see our friend Shannon at work. She bartends at the bar where we hang out on Friday nights. It was rather slow (on accounta it was 3 in the afternoon) so we just visited with her and our friend Carl (the afore mentioned nonblogger) for a little while and went home. Carl is a HUGE Florida fan so we watched the highlight show from their game against LSU. Needless to say, it was a very short show. There were not many UF highlights. (Sorry, Carl.)
Well, I gotta go to Keith's for dinner. We're celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving. See ya.

Alright, so let's talk a little Georgia football. Can you say 6 and 0? Oh, you can't? WE CAN!!! I know that people are going to say that we don't play anyone and that since we've struggled in some games that we aren't that good, but fuck every bit of that noise! We weren't supposed to be able to move against Alabama's defense -- moved. And people kept pointing out that we hadn't beaten Bama in Alabama in a decade, but as one of our O-linemen pointed out, no one that's on the team now had even played in Tuscaloosa. Anyway - I'm at my friend Keith's house watching yesterday's game on Keith's huge screen tv. I was at the game yesterday but it's kind of hard to see what's going on. We were on the sideline for a little while during the game but I couldn't take it. You can REALLY hear them hitting each other down there. I was with my friend Curt who called me a wimp for insisting that we leave the field, but those are my friends getting hit out there. But did ya see my boy Tony with the 25 yards on the sweep at the end of the game to finish Tennessee off? Yeah, that's my boy.
But to their credit, Tennessee's quarterbacks ran the shit out of our defense. One of their QB's had like 35 running yards, but that's just because they weren't counting lateral yards. That wiley bastard must have had 300 yards easy east to west. Our defense had a bunch of sacks but they spent half of the game running after them from one side of the field to the other. Alright, I gotta go watch the game. I'll check in later.

Well, I just went to kate's blog for the first time in forever and she had this find out which Disney princess you are . So I did it, and here's the result:

Which Disney Princess are you?

I'm a little bothered by how accurate it is. A little too close to home, I think. Well, anyway. . .
i'm at my friend Keith's house visiting with his cat. She is precious. He calls her Pita (pain in the ass), or something but I call her Princess Baby Kitty. He's only had her for about a month and she is the funniest little cat. He throws mice for her and she goes and gets them and brings them back for him to throw again. They are so funny together, he complains about having to throw the mice for her but he keeps doing it. Anyway, he's in Florida with his friend Greg so I'm cat sitting. He left me notes about everything -- where the catfood is, how many treats she's allowed to have, and actual diagrams of the remotes with detailed instructions on how to use them. He's such a nerd. Well, I better go throw mice for the Princess. later.

Okay, so here's what I learned about the whole issue of copyright and blog titles. I'm at school about to go to class, but I wanted to post a quick note in response to the "request" to stop using the title The World According to Me. It seems some guy calls his blog the same thing and claims to have copyrighted it. Well, a quick Google search reveals that there are a plethora of worlds out there and they are according to an equally large number of mes, including business magazines and a professional female basketball player. I think that what happened is that this guy did a search and saw that my blog is the first that comes up. A bit of blog envy, ya think? That's my guess. Well, he lists no copyright information on his site so I couldn't find the copyright even if it did exist.
So that's where that whole thing stands now, pretty much no where as far as I'm concerned but I will keep you updated on any changes.
Ya know, the funny part is that I would probably have gladly changed the stupid name if the guy had just asked but fuck this "don't make me get a lawyer" bullshit. I just got home from studyhall and I'm about cross-eyed tired so I have to go to bed soon. One of my football players took a shot to the head in the game Saturday and now he's seeing blurry and his face is numb. I kept telling him to tell the trainers, which he finally did today when he left practice in tears. It seems that he fractured his skull. He's going to a specialist tomorrow so we'll know then what's actually up. Oh, AND one of the gymnasts tore her achilles tendon today in practice. They're doing surgery on Thursday and she's out for 4 to 6 months -- the season starts in the beginning of January so she's probably out for the season. Sucks. Well, with that I have to go to bed. Night all. And yes, Keith, I'm blogging.

Well, I promised Keith that I'd blog before I went to bed tonight, so here I blog. I told him I have nothing interesting to say but he wasn't hearing me. Typical man.
I went to Ala - fuckin-bama for the game Saturday and I'm still exhausted. I left at around 8 am and didn't get home until 2 am. It was a long day in the hot sun. A friend of mine called me at 7:30 Saturday morning and asked me to meet him for breakfast. It seems that he had just gotten out of the county lock-up where he'd been since his arrest for DUI around 2 that morning. I'm guessing that was something of a buzz kill. But at least I had someone to eat breakfast with, and as you know it IS all about me so . . .
So, anyhow, the game was long and hot but we won -- thank the Goddess!! and then, today the running backs coach resigned. I haven't talked to anyone this afternoon so I don't know what happened but I will certainly find out. Now Coach Bobo is going to be the running backs coach and Coach Richt is going to work with the QB's. This promises to be interesting. Keith thinks maybe Coach Pierce just got tired of winning. Maybe.
Oh well, school is going well. I LOVE teaching. The kids are so very fun, and my lead teacher lets me teach a lot and she deals with all of the administrative junk, so I just have to do the fun part. How cool is that, I ask you!! Last week one of our classes all got 100's on their vocabulary quizes, so I got to make them Rice Crispie Treats. They were very good -- i made some regular, and then some with Trix and some with Cocoa Crispies. If you haven't had Cocoa Crispies, waste no time!! Run to the store now and buy some and some milk. SO GOOD!!
Okay, I gotta go to bed now. I hope all is well with everyone.

Oh, I forgot to tell ya -- Acidman emailed me. One more til hump day and then it's down hill from then, right? I hope so. I came in from school tonight (I skipped studyhall tonight, Georgia football will have to survive without me for one night -- but I did check in with all of my guys today while I was on campus) to find my kitchen COVERED with ants again. So I spent an hour killing the nasty fuckers, wiping down the counters with bleach and putting out liquid poison. They don't seem to be attracted to it like they usually are, but I'm not very patient so maybe I just need to wait a little while for them to find it. I hope so because those little nasty bastards are everywhere.
Anyway, there's really nothing fun going on. Teaching was fun yesterday. The teacher that I'm working with had some sort of placement emergency with one of her students so I got to teach one of her classes by myself. It was the most fun. 6 high school freshman boys reading the Odyssey. It was funny, she kept poking her head in and checking on me and then she realized that I'm not your run-of-the-mill 21-year-old student teacher and I could probably handle it.
Studyhall at UGA has gotten kind of interesting -- one of my freshmen is failing EVERYTHING and wants us to let him do his work in his room instead of going to studyhall for 10 hours a week. Crack head. I explained to him that since he is failing everything there is nothing to discuss -- when his grades come up we can talk about it, but as for now I'd rather suck shit through a straw than let him out of studyhall. Idiot.
Okay, I gotta go do some homework and check on the ants. Later.

Keith has informed me that I am the world's suckiest blogger, so I'm going to try to do better at keeping up my blog. I just got home from the Georgia football game (Go Dawgs). It was against a weak team and we beat them soundly, which was cool. A bunch of the kids that I work with go to play a significant part of the game, so that was cool, too. It rained cats and dogs early and then the sun came out so it got hot and steamy, which was not so cool. But I guess all in all, it's been a good day so far.
For only the second time in all of recorded history I actually hope that Florida (gag) wins today. They are playing Tennessee, whom I hate and whom an irritating loud mouthed redneck kid in teh class where I am student teaching this semester LOVES Tennessee, so I want to them to lose so I can walk in and ask the little fucker if he saw the game. I'm such a bitch. I'm watching the game right now but I think I'm going to have to change it. I can manage to hope that Tennessee loses, but rooting for Florida is a completely different story.
Anyway, so I started my student teaching this week. I'm working at Dacula High School right near my house. I really like it so far. The teacher I'm working with is very cool. She teaches 5 special education classes, 3 of which are team taught, meaning that there is a special ed teacher and a general (regular) ed teacher in there. One of them only has 6 or 7 kids and she does most of the teaching. Her other two classes she teaches by herself and they are small, too. The kids in her small classes are really fun. There are two football players in one of her classes and one of them is a HUGE Georgia fan, so he thinks I'm very cool.
Alright, I need to go take a shower and actually do some homework. I was going to mow my lawn this evening, but since it's pouring down rain I think it's going to have to wait. I'm going to go read some blogs and do some work.
Oh, one more thing (last one, really). Cory, the gymnast that I work with has a blog of sorts, so go read her. She's very sweet and I love her.

Well, I've been back for almost a week and I'm still digging out from being gone last weekend. I don't have much time to catch up even now, as I need to write 2 postings for a class discussion board. They were due last night, but I'm going to see if the prof will still count them. I was at the football game yesterday so I didn't get anything done. The game didn't start until 3:30, so I could have gotten some stuff done yesterday morning but the game was in South Carolina so I had to leave the house around 9 to go and eat breakfast with my friend Keith and get there on time in case there was traffic. One of my football players put me on his family list -- that's how I got my ticket -- so I was going to sit by myself, but I ran into my friend Susan and ended up sitting with her. It was very fun. There was a 1 hour rain delay, and it was a televised game (which means tons of tv timeouts), so the opening kickoff was 3:30 and it didn't end until almost 8. It was 9 by the time I got onto the highway on the way home, and I made the mistake of going by and seeing my friends Mike and Dave so I didn't get home until 3:30 in the morning. I slept until 11:00 this morning, then I made a lasagne to take to Keith's to eat while we watch the Sopranos and then I took a nap. Now we're watching the last 2 episodes of last season before the season primere starts. I have to go now and do some school work. I'm going to go and read blogs in a little while.

I will be off line for a few days.
